Paul Harris Fellow recognition was created in memory of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary as a way to show appreciation for contributions to the Foundation's charitable and educational program.  A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who contributes $1,000 or in whose name that amount is contributed.  Every Paul Harris Fellow receives a pin, medallion and a certificate when he or she becomes a Fellow.  This identifies the Paul Harris Fellow as an advocate of the Foundation's goals of world peace and international understanding.  In 1905, the founder of Rotary
International, Paul Harris, a lawyer from Iowa, gathered a small group of friends at 127 N. Dearborn Street in Chicago, Illinois, to discuss the idea of a club for business men and professionals.
This first meeting identified three purposes for the organization: promotion of business interests, promotion of good fellowship and the advancement of the best interests of the community. Later, “the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace” was added to what is now known as the Object of Rotary along with the key phrase, “ideal of service”.

President Tracy was taken completely by surprise this night.  His primary intention for the night was to honor “Coach” for 50 great unselfish years serving Rotary and the Community.  But in the very dramatic and quotable word of Coach as Don Alhart read the award........“Gotcha!
One can’t help but feel the spirit and enthusiasm in the room when one walks in and Tracy is at the helm.  It’s contagious and it flows from person to person.  It’s a big reason why I joined Rotary, and I know it is inspiring to all those who “share the air” at every function.  Congratulations Tracy, keep up the great work, you are an example to every one of us.
