Miika is from Lohja, a town of just over 39,000, located in the Southern Province of Finland, in the Uusima Region, just Northwest of Helsinki. Lohja has been a focal point for the population and economy of Western Uusimaa since the early 14th century. Lohja was renowned as a trading centre already in the Middle Ages. The local inhabitants were among the pioneers of the Finnish mining and construction material industries.
Corning Museum of Glass is a great experience for anyone, but particularly unique for Miika, because it is such a part of American culture, and also because it offers such great opportunities to test out one’s photographic skills. And Miika loved that part. Thanks to Michael and Susie, he had a great day that culminated with him “blowing” his own Souvenir to take back home with him in August.
